Poetic Undertones of Wine

Published in the Anthology Wollondilly Ink brought out by Wollondilly Branch of the Fellowship of Australian Writers in 2012

The first mangos of the season
Sweet to taste
juicy on the inside
refreshing and light
With the hint of summer on the way

Autumn is for apples
Crunchy greens and reds
aromas that will mix well with cinnamon
A delicious way to end the day

Winter citrus fruits
Bitter coldness for flavour
sour fills my tongue
With crisp zesty limes to finish

Spring time is the season of berries
For the delicate platter
fresh strawberries to melt in your mouth
a serving suggestion of whipped cream
With vibrant colours
that will leave you craving for more

This poem has undertones of wine
Leading people to believe
it’s been too long without a drink

At least there is no hangover!
